Ngala Game Reserve

The existence of the Ngala Game Reserve is largely the result of the fact that the love of the land of the previous owner, Hans Hoheisen, who inherited the land and after many years of looking after and caring for the land and the wildlife, donated the land that was then known as the Timbavati, to the South African National Parks Trust and the World wildlife Fund. The boundaries between Kruger National Park and what was then known as Kempiana was removed and land management became the responsibility of the Kruger Park.

The significant additions made to the funds of the National Parks Trust with the payment of traversing and leasing fees are today being used the South African National Parks Trust for park expansion in areas with high biodiversity.

Over two hundred different species live here in abundance. The wildlife in this area (with the exception of the migratory birds) remain in their territories all year round. It could be a challenge to find a wildlife experience quite like this anywhere else in South Africa.

The Ngala Game Reserve is home to AndBeyond's luxury Ngala Tented Camp and Ngala Safari Lodge. They excel in hospitality, Beautiful accommodation, wonderful landscapes, fine cuisine, skilled guides and rangers and friendly capable staff are a few of the aspects that visitors enjoy. Each of these accommodations has a unique atmosphere and ambiance.

Spring and summer in Ngala are rainy seasons and the bush is green, lush and thick, resulting in more difficult sightings of animals. Days and evenings are warm. Autumn and winter are dry, the bush is less dense with a lack of water. Animals frequent waterholes and rivers more often and it is easier to see them. Days are usually quite warm, but early morning and evening are very chilly.

AndBeyond Ngala Game Reserve also offers Specialist Safaris, like Walking Safaris - a 4day/3night tailormade walking safari, Tracking Safari with a specialist ranger and tracker team, Photographic and Birding Safaris and a Welverdient Community visit. These activities are extra and separate to a normal visit. Please enquire with us about bookings.
