Location

Chitwa Chitwa is a luxury private safari game lodge, sitting on the banks of one of the largest dams (lakes) of the exclusive 63,000 hectare Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, which forms part of the greater Kruger National Park.

The Reserve

Located in the Sabi Sand, the birthplace of sustainable wildlife tourism in southern Africa, Chitwa Chitwa is highly acclaimed for its excellent game viewing. Animals have grown accustomed to the presence of safari vehicles in their territory and we offer some of the best opportunities to meet Africa's Big Five.

Lodge Features

Chitwa offers an experience which starts at sunrise and ends at sunset, capturing the essence of the magnificent wildlife heritage and natural landscape of Africa.

From the luxurious cotton sheets you will sleep on to the delicious dishes you will indulge in, a sense of caring and passion touches everything you experience with us.

Enjoy drinks under the African stars, meals in the traditional boma, cooling dips in the lodge swimming pool or your private plunge pool, or soothing massages and treatments in the Spa.

Our meals designed to create a relaxed atmosphere for sharing in the day's excitement. Lunch and breakfast are served next to the pool in the thatched lapa overlooking the lake. Dinners are served in the open-air boma around a roaring fire or in our elegant and stylish dining room.

We are one off the few luxury lodges in Sabi Sand to accept children of all ages. Whilst catering for the most discerning traveller Chitwa retains a homely atmosphere, a place where you can be you.

Lodge Facilities

Gym

You might want to spend time training in our gym, which comes fully equipped with treadmill, spinning bike, pilates ball, dumbbells, aerobic mats and the all-in-one weight gym.

Spa

The benefits of massage such as stimulating circulation, removing toxins and relieving the stress and tension of everyday living can be experienced at Chitwa Chitwa with our resident masseuse. A variety of other treatments are offered.

Main Central Area

Chitwa is built around the largest lake in the reserve and is seamlessly integration into the surrounding African bush through its ideal location and design. You can be assured of superb game viewing from the main lounge and dining areas as wild animals congregate at the water's edge.

Sunset Deck

Shaded by old Knobthorn trees, our large wooden lounging deck affords amazing wildlife sightings of the Big Five (leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros). The deck and rim-flow swimming pool offers the perfect environment to relax, unwind and enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of Africa.

Accommodation

Accommodation is offered in:

• six luxury en-suite suites, each with a private lake-view deck and its own private plunge pool
• the Charlsy Suite with two inter-leading en-suite rooms joined by a comfortable living area and spacious common lake-view deck and swimming pool
• the Chitwa House with 2 en-suite rooms, a spacious common lounge and dining area and a lake-view deck with swimming pool

The Rooms and Suites

Great care has been taken to balance unpretentious style with complete comfort when it comes to all of the Chitwa Suites.

Each of the six individually decorated suites open onto a private lake-view deck with its own private plunge pool, framed by a spacious timber deck that overlooks the nearby lake - a popular drinking hole for our wealth of wildlife. The luxury suites are spacious and can accommodate up to 2 extra beds for children under the age of 12 years only.

The Charlsy Suite in particular is a superb solution for families or friends travelling together. It consists of two splendidly appointed inter-leading en-suite rooms joined by a comfortable living area. A spacious common lake view deck with a swimming pool completes this special unit.

All the Chitwa Chitwa Suites include a bath-tub, indoor and outdoor shower, fireplace, minibar, fan, hairdryer, tea coffee making facility and an iPod docking station.

Chitwa House

Chitwa House was created to meet a growing demand for greater privacy and exclusive hospitality — a treasured escape. Here you may enjoy a bush experience tailored to your needs with the assistance of an experienced house butler and the enthusiasm of a dedicated ranger. Set your pace in your own private piece of Africa.

The house consists of two beautifully appointed en-suite rooms with private decks and out-door showers. The common areas include a spacious common lounge and dining area and a lake-view deck with swimming pool. You can go on Big 5 safari game drives in your own private safari vehicle with a guide and tracker.

Enjoy delicious meals, either served by us or a private chef who can cook up delights in Chitwa House's fully-equipped kitchen.

A fully stocked mini-bar, coffee/tea facilities and a private television in your lounge are also provided to add to your comfort.
