Location

Shamwari Game Reserve opens their Explorer Camp during South Africa’s summer to offer a once-in-a-lifetime guided walking safari in the game reserve. Thus offering you the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals and other wildlife that nature offers.

Accommodation is in luxuriously furnished safari tents for your comfort in the wilderness.

Going back to basics in the wilderness always works for the young at heart and brings with it a wonderful sense of adventure. There is nothing like coming eye-to-eye at short distances with some of the Big Five while on foot.

This amazing kind of an African safari holiday comprises a 2-night trail, departing each Friday, with an optional 3rd night on request. Shamwari Game Reserve offers this glamping opportunity every year from October to April.

Explorer Camp Accommodation

Outdoor Opulence - Glamping at its best.

Our wilderness camp facilities are luxurious, with each tent uniquely decorated and equipped with all the glamping amenities required to add extra ambience and comfort. Each tent has the following necessities:

Comfortable beds and bedding
LED light for night time use
En-suite bathroom facilities
Outdoor hand wash basin
Insect repellent

We created these facilities with special attention to safety and the provisioning of panoramic views.

The camp site is discreetly fenced for safety reasons but retains true explorer ambiance. The tents are placed in close proximity without encroaching on the other tents privacy

Meals

Culinary feasts are presented around the camp fire with exquisite silverware. And best of all, guests wake up to tea/coffee, served in front of their tents.

Drinks

There is also a classic portable bar with crystal glassware to enjoy the traditional gin and tonic on the viewing deck.

Walking Safaris Safaris

We offer a morning safari as well as an evening safari with knowledgeable and passionate-about-wildlife guides. While on safari, take in the beautiful landscape views, the plant, bird and wildlife scenes that you will experience on the way. See birds of prey or spot one or more of the Big 5 on foot. After enjoying the safari, return to the camp for an enjoyable breakfast or dinner.
