The Lodge at &Beyond Mnemba Island is an award-winning beach paradise near the northeast coast of Zanzibar.
A maximum of 20 guests possible at this romantic, private hideaway where ten beach-side bands have a view on a wonderful scuba area, the Mnemba atoll.
Try snorkelling, scuba, swimming and kayaking, or massages on the beach, or just relax and do nothing.
.Lunch and dinner will be served on the beach if you prefer to relax the whole day on the beach. Otherwise you can enjoy it in the luxury guest areas.
A Day at Mnemba Island
Days at &Beyond Mnemba Island can be as active or as leisurely as you want them to, since activities and meals can always be tailor-made to your wishes and there are many ways to spend each ideal, sun-washed day. The following is just one suggestion for a day at Mnemba Island Lodge.
Breakfast
At a pre-arranged time, a friendly knock will sound on your door and morning tea and coffee will be delivered. Soon afterwards your breakfast will be ready and delivered to your banda. Enjoy a selection of fruits and cheeses, as well as toast, jam and a selection of hot dishes cooked to order.
Morning
Spend a leisurely morning on the beach, snorkelling along the nearby coral reefs or simply enjoying the sunshine. Keep a sharp lookout for a coconut crab, the largest arthropod that lives on land.
Lunch
The guest areas provide a cool, shaded sanctuary for a light, refreshing lunch, or it can be served on the beach if you prefer.
Afternoon Dive
After a brief siesta, it's time to meet our diving instructors and venture into the sea. A short ride takes you out to the reefs, where you can explore the colourful marine life. If you happen to spot a pod of dolphin, simply jump in and swim with these sociable sea creatures.
Dinner
Back from your dive, wash off the salt in the shower. There's time to relax before a luxurious seafood dinner, served right on the beach.
Wildlife at Mnemba
The coral reefs surrounding Mnemba island are home to a vast variety of reef fish, anemone and other marine specimens, while diverse pelagic fish and marine mammals thrive in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Humpback whales, as well as many species of dolphin, a number of shark and several types of ray are encountered in the ocean depths
The island itself provides a nesting ground for the threatened green turtle, as well as many bird species, including the rare crab plover. The tiny suni antelope roams the forest in the centre of the island and the recently introduced and highly endangered Ader’s duiker may also be spotted on a walk around the island.
Situated in a coral atoll in the Mnemba Island Marine Conservation Area, &Beyond Mnemba Island and its surrounds boast a wealth of sea life and marine species. The coral reefs surrounding the island are home to a vast variety of reef fish, anemone and other marine specimens, while diverse pelagic fish and marine mammals thrive in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Humpback whales, as well as many species of dolphin, a number of shark and several types of ray are encountered in the ocean depths. A variety of predator fish in the area include barracuda, mackerel, kingfish, sailfish and marlin.

SCUBA DIVING
Mnemba Island has a fully stocked Dive Centre, and offers a full range of diving activities. If you are experienced, our Dive Instructor will guide you on fantastic dives around the Mnemba Atoll. If you are a beginner, our Instructor is waiting to introduce you to a whole new world of mystery, wonder and beauty!
DISCOVER SNORKELING
Offered for guests who do not wish to do a scuba diving accreditation, this course offers all you need to confidently explore the shallower coral reefs situated off Mnemba with the help of a snorkel. This guided course, offered by Mnemba's specialist dive masters, covers safety procedures, equipment, currents and suggested snorkelling spots.
DEEP SEA FISHING TRIP
It is a battle of wills as guests test their strength against barracuda, mackerel, king fish and marlin on a full day, deep sea fishing adventure. Rate charged per boat.

These cannot be used in conjunction with any other &Beyond offers, including Signature offers. Single Supplement: High Season: A single supplement of 50% applies to all single rooms. Remainder of year: A single supplement of 25% applies to all single rooms. Children under the age of 16 sharing with 1 or 2 adult are charged 50% of the adult rate. This is subject to the availability of triple rooms. Mnemba cannot accommodate more than 3 children under the age of 12 years in-house at any given time. Children are welcome at Mnemba Island
Travel to Tanzania is recommended for children 8 years or older. The lodge is able to accommodate one triple room. This means that, should parents wish to share a room with younger children, an additional bed will be set up in the parents’ room for children 16 years or younger.
Designed especially for children visiting AndBeyond’s lodges, WILDchild is a filled with fun, interactive activities that offer opportunities to learn and discover new experiences and cultures. On arrival at Mnemba Island, each child will receive a WILDchild branded bag containing a logbook, crayons, pencils and a paw-print tattoo. There is a personalised welcome note for every child, with those under three getting an African-themed soft toy as well.
